In honor of Kaitlyn Duffy, the student/cheerleader from Great Bridge High school who suddenly lost her life last Friday, we ask that everyone wear green and gold tomorrow to show our Warrior support for Great Bridge High and their community during this difficult time.

Congratulations to the Girls’ Tennis team on their 1st round 5A South Regional win over Princess Anne HS.

A huge congratulations to our Varsity Boys’ and Girls’ soccer teams on the Conference 10 Championship victories last night. Both teams advance to 5A South Regional play next week. Awesome sweep for our soccer programs. Good luck in the Regional tournament!

Seniors are reminded to turn in all textbooks to their teachers before June 2. Library books and tablets are also due.

Any students wishing to have early dismissal on Friday, May 26 may start turning their notes in to the Front Office. Reminder: if you are in a testing site, you will not be able to leave until testing is finished.

The next meeting of the National Honor Society will be held on Monday, June 5 for the purpose of nominating candidates for the officer election. All new inductees and current members should plan to attend. The election will be held on Monday, June 12.

We are once again seeing an increase in illegal parking on campus. if you have not purchased a parking space from Coach Young, you can NOT park on campus!

Seniors: you can NOT give your parking spot to another students unless you see Coach Young first. Underclassmen must see Coach Young if you are using a senior spot or you risked getting towed.  Underclassmen can buy a Senior parking spot for $5 by seeing Coach Young before 8:15 in the morning or after school.

Juniors can buy a parking spot for next year starting May 30 before 8:15 a.m., after school or during ODD day lunch periods. Sophomores can buy a spot starting June 5. You must have a valid current license and show it to Coach Young when buying your spot. Cost is $30.

SOL Testing began on Thursday, May 18. We will be testing by class block. After testing, students will report to class to review for the next day’s SOL test.  Please understand that although we will be on a modified schedule, instruction will continue as normal. All students are expected to be in school during SOL testing even if they are not taking an SOL test. Students will be responsible for any work missed.

Seniors should be in school through May 24 (the last day of exemption notification.) If seniors are not exempt from exams, they should be in school until senior exams are completed.

Seniors, Summer Grads and Term Grads: We are quickly approaching the end of your school year. Graduation, walking across the stage and receiving your diploma will be here soon. With that in mind, please be very cautious when making decisions to participate in any “activity” that would disrupt any portion of the school day. Participation in those activities could jeopardize your graduation participation and good standing in the school.

Sideline and Competition Cheerleading Interest Meetings for 2017 Cheer Season will be held on Thursday, June 1 – 6:00 pm.

Congratulations to the Boys’ Soccer team for their 3-2 win over Menchville last night in the Conference 10 Tournament Semifinal. This win earned the team a Regional playoff berth next week. Both Boys’ and Girls’ soccer teams will play tonight for the Conference 10 Tournament championships at Gloucester. Good luck!

Announcements 5-23-17

A big congratulations goes out to a few members of the Girls’ Tennis team. The Lady Warriors battled through a very long day that ended with an All-Nansemond River Singles final and All-Nansemond River Doubles final. Seniors Erin Bonney and Zion McCoy will face each other in the Singles final. Then Erin and Zion will face Hannah Ramey and Lauren Ramey in the Doubles final. The action will take place at Nansemond River directly after school on Thursday. Come out and support your Lady Warriors Tennis team!

The Ladies of Distinction closing reception will be held Tuesday, May 23 at King’s Fork Middle School at 6:30 pm. Please stop by Mrs. Credle’s room, room 230, for an information sheet for your parents.

Sideline and Competition Cheerleading Interest Meetings for 2017 Cheer Season will be held on the following days: Tuesday, May 23 – 6:00 pm and Thursday, June 1 – 6:00 pm.  You will only need to pick one meeting to attend.
