Nansemond River High School earned the prestigious designation of “Distinguished” after achieving more than 90 points on the state’s performance scale. This recognition represents the highest level of achievement within the new accountability system.

Nansemond River High School is proud to be recognized as one of the 100 Best W!se High Schools in the nation for Financial Literacy.

This program empowers students to step into the role of an engineer, adopt a problem-solving mindset, and make the leap from dreamers to doers. Courses engage students in compelling, real-world challenges that help them become better collaborators and thinkers. Engineers find solutions to pressing problems and turn their ideas into reality.

We empower our students to lead both on the field and in the classroom. Whether it’s a buzzer-beater in a Virginia regional championship or a top-tier finish in a national club competition, our programs cultivate the teamwork and dedication necessary for lifelong success.

The Governor's School for the Arts is a center for innovation that develops excellence, nurtures creativity, inspires artistic vision and builds communities with a passion for the arts. GSA offers arts training in Hampton Roads in six departments:  Dance, Instrumental Music, Musical Theatre, Theater & Film, Visual Arts and Vocal Music.

Nansemond River High School is proud to host the Air Force JROTC, in which Cadets earned the distinction of "Exceeds Standards" for unit evaluations.
