Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement Courses:

AP® courses are college-level courses offered in high school.
Courses reflect what is taught in top introductory college courses.
Students take AP Exams at the end of the course, measuring their mastery of college-level materials.
A score of 3 or higher on an AP Exam can typically earn students college credit and/or placement into an advanced courses in college.
Taught by trained high school instructors.
No tuition.
Students must meet pre-requisites.
Students are encouraged to take a national standardized test in the spring.
To receive college credit, you must achieve a minimum passing score on the AP exam.
The AP exam fee: $97.00. Fee Waivers/reductions are available through ACCESS College Foundation/Suffolk Education Foundation for those who qualify.
Additional rigor beyond honors and regular courses.
College-level content to help prepare for college-level classes.
Challenging to help prepare for Dual Enrollment courses.
College-prep materials spread over a year as opposed to a semester in Dual Enrollment.
