Congratulations to our competition theatre team for being ranked in the top 15 at the Virginia Theatre Association High School Theatre Festival. NRHS was named Honorable Mention and three students were named All-State, Armon Davis, Emma Cox and Maddie Alspaugh and best performance in State to MacKenzie Sheppard.
Congratulations to the Marching Warriors for participating in the King’s Fork HS Kennel Classic on Saturday, October 28. The Band competed in the AA division and won:

All 10th grade Driver Ed students: Don’t forget that this Wednesday, November 1 at 5:30 pm we will have a parent-teen driving night in the auditorium. Bring a parent and receive extra credit. If you have any questions, please see a Driver Ed teacher.
Students that were notified of SOL tutoring are reminded that it begins today. Please take advantage of all of these tutoring opportunities.
Congratulations to the Marching Warriors for participating in the Virginia Band and Orchestra Director’s Association Marching Band assessment on Thursday, October 26 at Warhill Sports Complex in Williamsburg. The band received a rating of Excellent in marching, music and general effect and Excellent overall.
We would like to wish the Lady Warriors Field Hockey team good luck in the Regional Tournament today. They will play Hickory at 3:00 pm at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
Today’s National Honor Society meeting will be held in Mrs. Liles’ room, room 134. Expect it to last 20-30 minutes.
The Chess Club will meet today from 3:00 – 4:00 pm in the Art Room. Have your own ride home.
The Community Service Club has surpassed its Socktober goal of 100 pairs of socks for the women and children at Genieve Shelter. Donations are still being accepted in room 101 through the end of the week. Thank you Warriors for your generous spirit and remembering others in need.
The Science Club will be collecting plastic bags from November 6 through the end of March. Please bring the bags to room 219. Thanks for your past support!
The Science Club will have a Halloween Party on Tuesday, October 31 at 3:10 pm in room 219. New members are welcome. Please bring a snack or dessert to share (no cinnamon or nuts.) You must have your own transportation home.
All candy donations for the Trunk or Treat at Nansemond Parkway Elementary must be turned in no later than Monday, October 30. Please turn in donations to room 111.
Boys’ Basketball tryouts will be held Monday, November 6. JV tryouts for 9th and 10th graders will be 3:15 – 6:00 pm and Varsity tryouts for juniors and seniors will be 6:00 – 8:30 pm. You must have a current physical on file and at least an overall 2.0 GPA.
Ladies of Distinction will meet October 31 at 3:15 pm. Have your ride arrive at 4:10 pm.
