PLTW Distinguished HSCongratulations to Nansemond River High School for earning the prestigious National Project Lead the Way Distinguished School award!

The national recognition program is designed to honor districts and schools committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their PLTW programs. The schools recognized are empowering students to thrive in an evolving world and have achieved exemplary results from their PLTW programs. The PLTW Distinguished School recognition for high school programs is based on the number of PLTW curricular offerings available to students, the number of students engaged in PLTW, and student success in their PLTW coursework.

Eighty percent (80%) of the NRHS Engineering students earned a proficient or higher on the PLTW end-of-course tests in the areas of Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, Civil Engineering and Architecture, and Digital Electronics.  The PLTW Engineering program began in 2010 at Nansemond River High School and has had five successful graduating classes of more than 95 students. Dawn Rountree is the teacher who leads the program.

Congratulations to Mrs. Rountree and all of our PLTW students!
