Locked Error Messages in Canvas

Canvas LogoAre you receiving locked error messages in a Canvas course?  Try these troubleshooting tips.

1.  Make sure you have completed all of the prerequisites for the item you are trying to complete. Click on the Module and make sure there are no pages, discussions, assignments, etc. that are in bold. If anything before the item you are trying to submit is in bold, it is a prerequisite that must be completed BEFORE you can move on in the module.

2.  Access everything through the course modules, not the To Do List or Calendar.

3.  After submitting the assignment, discussion, etc., make sure you click the Next button at the bottom of the Canvas page. The Next button tells the program that you have completed the item.

4.  Make sure your Chrome browser is updated.

5.  Clear the cache of the Chrome browser.

6.  Try accessing the module page through an incognito or private browser window.

Note: If you are using a personal device, using Chrome will help to eliminate some problems you may be having. Suffolk Public Schools only provides support for SPS assigned devices.
