Announcements 12-6-17

FCCLA will be meeting in room 117 Thursday, December 7 after school from 3:00 – 4:00 pm. This is a mandatory meeting.

There will be a Girls’ Soccer team meeting for all girls interested in playing soccer in the spring on Wednesday, December 6 at 3:15 pm in the cafeteria.

The Nansemond River Community Service Club will be meeting on Thursday, December 7 after school at 3:05 pm in room 101. Students interested in joining may attend and sign up for activities.

ACCESS Release forms and fee waiver applications that were handed out in your English 11 class are due to Mrs. Foster in Guidance as soon as possible.

Norfolk State will be having on-site admissions on Friday, December 8. Seniors are welcome to sign up in the Guidance office to speak with an advisor. All application fees will be waived, and any senior with a 3.0 or above average will be automatically admitted. They will also be providing potential scholarship opportunities.

The E-Sports Club will have our December meeting on Thursday, December 7 from 3:15 – 4:45 pm.  Bring your Playstation and Wii U controllers. Please contact Ms. Kemp if you plan on bringing your console.

Warriors:  Effective immediately for numerous reasons:  Students will NOT be allowed to return to the parking lot or their vehicles unless they have a written pass from an administrator. If you have forgotten an item, you must have a pass from an administrator. We thank you, in advance, for your understanding and cooperation.

The Fine Arts Department presents A Winter Holiday Concert series with the Nansemond River HS and John Yeates Middle School Orchestras on Thursday, December 14 at 7:00 pm. On Monday, December 18 at 6:00 pm, the Nansemond River Chorus, Concert Band and Jazz Band.  All concerts are free and open to the public.

Please return your red Federal Aid forms ASAP.

Students: If you are interested in the 2018 Summer Residential Academies, don’t forget to sign up online. The deadline is deadline is December 14, 2017.

The first Boys’ home basketball game of the season is tonight! Our Warriors will host Grassfield. Game time is 5:45 for JV and approximately 7:30 for Varsity. Please come out and support our Warriors!

Congratulations to the Magnificent Marching Warrior Band for winning 1st place High School Band in the Norfolk Grand Illumination Parade 2017.

The NR Swim team defeated Lakeland with no disqualifications. The Boys’ team won by 50 points, and the Girls’ team won by 40.

Congratulations to the Wrestling team for taking 1st place in the Colonial Heights Kick-Off Duals on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

Congratulations to the NRHS Boys’ JV Basketball team for their 75-55 win over Deep Creek Friday. Our Boys’ teams may their home opener tomorrow vs Grassfield. JV starts at 5:30 pm; Varsity at 7:15 pm. Come out and support our Warriors!

The Chess Club will meet today from 3:00 – 4:00 pm in the Art Room.

The National Honor Society will meet today in Mrs. Murray’s room. We will be painting rocks. Feel free to bring a friend.

AP, DC & CCAP Information Night 12-5-17

Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment and the College and Career Academy at Pruden Information Night on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 6:30 pm in the King’s Fork High School Auditorium. Interested parents and students in grades 8-11 are encouraged to attend.
