Come see the students compete on the following obstacle courses: backhoe push & pull, race to fill a dump truck and showcase their dexterity by dropping a metal pin into a 1 ½” PVC pipe.

Vote Zion McCoy for SN-H’s Player of the Week!

SNH Player of the WeekCongratulations to Zion McCoy, Varsity Girls’ Tennis player! She is one of this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week.

Zion went undefeated in singles and doubles play last week for the Lady Warriors. She is currently the No. 2 singles player on the team and is 10-0 for the season in singles and doubles play.

Vote for Zion by 7 p.m. Wednesday by sending an email with the subject “Player of the Week” to sports@suffolknewsherald.com.

Y Street will be in the cafeteria Wednesday, April 25 during all 4 lunch shifts to celebrate School Breakfast Week and collect surveys about your breakfast habits and preferences. Stop by the Y Street table to fill our a survey for a chance to win a NRHS 2017 prom ticket!

Battle of the Bands at The River – Friday, April 28, 2017 at 6:00 pm. Come our and support our magnificent Warrior Band as we take on Booker T. Washington HS, I.C. Norcom HS and Lakeland HS. Tickets are $10.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door. Tickets go on sale Monday during all lunch shifts.

Light It Up Blue! April is National Autism Awareness Month. Show your Warrior pride by wearing blue on Friday, April 28 in celebration of Autism Awareness month. In addition, add your unique piece to the puzzle by designing your own puzzle piece and adding it to the wall. Check in the office or in Room 233 for a puzzle piece and more information.

The NRHS Performing Arts Department is proud to present its annual Spring musical, Grease! Performances will be held Thursday, May 4 through Saturday, May 6 in the NRHS Auditorium at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $10.00 for general admission and $5.00 for students and Suffolk Public Schools’ staff.

The Science Club will meet Tuesday, April 25 at 3:10 in room 219. All members are needed to set up for a future event.

Seniors:  Do you have a job? Do you want a job? Have you ever been on a real professional interview? Are you interested in talking one-on-one with professionals in a career that may interest you in the future? The Career Expo is your opportunity to answer “Yes” to one or all of those questions. Permission slips are available from English teachers or outside of room 123. Return the permission slip by Tuesday, April 25 to attend. All you will need is a resume and dressed in your best professional attire. A resume printing workshop will be held Tuesday, April 25 in room 123 from 3:00 – 4:00 pm or any morning until the trip.

Attention Seniors: If you have turned in your National Signing Day permission slip and plan on attending the field trip on Tuesday, April 25, you must attend a brief meeting on Monday, April 24 at 8:30 am.

Attention students driving to school: There is an increase of illegal “parkers” on campus! Coach Young ticketed 21 cars yesterday. We have requested a tow truck for next week. If you get towed, it will be $180 to get your car back. You can not share a spot with someone until you see Coach Young.

Congratulations to the following students for representing Nansemond River at the ODU Tri-Cities Center Art Show: Peymon Aleagha, Lauren Ramey, Sydney Kania and Sarah Kania.

Congratulations to Alyssa Sharp for representing the NRHS Art program at the Superintendent Art Show. Her portrait will be hanging at the School Board Office for an entire year highlighting the hard work and creativity that goes on in the Art classes.

Congratulations to ALL of the Art students who created amazing artwork that is being displayed and judged in the big ICONICON art contest being held at the North Suffolk Library on April 29. The show is already up so you can go check them out and vote for your favorite River artwork.

A huge congratulations to our Girls’ Tennis team for their undefeated run in Southeastern District competition for this season. This is the first undefeated season in school history.

Congratulations to the Girls’ Tennis team on their 9-0 victory over Great Bridge last night. Player of the Match was senior Erin Bonney. The Coaches’ Award went to Hannah Ramey and Lauren Ramey. The Girls’ look to complete their district title run today vs Lakeland. Good luck Ladies!
